2nd Trimester Energy Boost?

According to the books, pregnant women get a boost of energy during the second trimester.  Apparently since they aren’t “too big” yet, and the nausea tends to disappear… women can resume their normal routines with minimal pregnancy interruptions.   That assumes that burping, gas, too tight clothes, early bedtimes, and being hungry all the time are to be taken for granted and assumed to be normal.

At about week 13 my husband must have known this energy boost was around the corner, or he simply likes to take his own life into his own hands.    This was the point at which he uttered the following sentence: “Interest rates are good… maybe we should think about moving.”    To add fuel to the fire of this pregnant woman’s body, he did this over email;   subsequently sending me into a panic.

That night when Nathan got home, I declared (as any irrational pregnant woman does)  “I have had enough of this talk about moving or not moving.   2 years is enough of a debate.  We are doing this, I am getting a realtor this weekend, the discussion is over and I don’t want to bring it up again.”

I guess Nathan learned his lesson about throwing out a random idea over email to a pregnant woman.   Four weeks later we have bought a new house, put our house on the market, packed up half of our belongings, staged our house, and have been showing it to Realtors and prospective buyers over the weekend.   If we are lucky, we will have it sold within the week.   Thank goodness for that 2nd trimester energy boost!

I swear, the timing on this could not have been more planned.   It’s as if my body knew that this was no time to be moaning and groaning on the couch… so it stopped the daytime sickness and removed my need to lay down for an hour each day during the afternoon.   Therefore, about one week after the moving gauntlet had been thrown down, I was already looking for houses.   I had babysitters lined up so I could interview new preschools.  I had registered for summer camps and mommy-and-me classes to meet new people.   And things were kicking into gear.

It’s crazy how baby #3 is different than baby #1…. there is NO WAY I would have done this when I was expecting the twins.   Likewise, Nathan wouldn’t have let me.

This time he practically shoved the paint brush in my hand and said… start touching up the walls lady!     So much for taking it easy!

I got to baby #3, w/ three go rounds. No twins here (can’t imagine that). But by third time, I don’t think my husband even remembered I was pregnant half the time. Definitely different. First pregnancy I think I would have read a book entitled “Your Pregnancy day by day” if there was such a thing. By the third, I had to dig “what to expect” out of storage when something new happened. Pretty funny, huh?

Ha! Yeah, better to move now than after the baby comes. Ugh, done that before. Good luck with the pg.

Moving? You go girl! My fabled “second trimester energy boost” was way too short for my liking. I’m pretty sure I got cheated.

Love your writing, and I will be reading more often.
